Arts and Crafts 101: Supplies

All the beautiful colors and supplies in the craft aisle can be overwhelming! Here is my super simple advice for purchasing craft supplies.

Make sure supplies are:

washable: Because mess is part of the creative process. Embrace it, don’t fight it!

non-toxic: Toddlers have an affinity for chewing on crayons. Non-toxic is a must to keep them safe while learning not to do this!

quality: Sub-par art supplies do not deliver the same brilliant colors or performance. No one wants to color with crayons that are hard to use or glue that dries up in the tube. Stick with classic brands (like Crayola) and you will be happy with your purchase.

If you keep these things in mind you will have a stash of craft supplies that will help your children’s creativity flourish. Here I have created a list of some of my favorite arts and crafts supplies for kids. If you are building a craft supply from scratch, just start with some paper and crayons. There’s no need to rush out and buy everything at once!
