Rainbow Noodles (for sensory play)

This is a great way to use up left over plain pasta, or to use up those few noodles left in the box! This idea is originally from my favorite kid fun blogger, Asia at Fun at Home with Kids.

colored noodles

Materials:

Cooked pasta (enough to play with)

Food coloring or liquid water colors (optional)

Several measuring cups, large serving utensils and  bowls

How-To:

If coloring pasta, place desired amount in a plastic bag, add a few drops of color and shake until pasta is saturated with color. (Food coloring will stain hands, liquid water colors will not, but are not taste safe).

Play:

Touch the noodles and discuss how it feels on your hands! (language development)

Scoop the noodles and transfer from one container to another. (hand-eye coordination)

Pick up individual noodles (fine motor development)
